Farm Crew Member
(part-time)
Swallowtail Farm is a small, sustainable, family-run farm located between East Lansing and Mason. We grow vegetables and flowers and sell directly to local consumers. We are seeking a part-time person (or persons) to help with our farm operations. We are especially interested in candidates available on Monday and/or Thursday mornings / early afternoons.
Tasks include:
Planting, harvesting, weeding, produce washing, bed preparation, digging, and other field tasks. The work is very physical and includes lifting to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, pulling, and repetitive movement. We are a production farm looking for self-motivated people who value efficiency, work with purpose, and maintain a positive attitude.
Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age
Experience in gardening, farming, or landscaping preferred
Ability to perform physical work in a variety of weather conditions
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Schedule:
Our regular field work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a part-time position, and we understand it may need to fit around other commitments. We are open to hiring someone who can commit to one or two consistent days per week. We are flexible between the hours of 8-2, if someone can commit to a regular, but shorter shift. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can work through November.
