Farm Crew Member
(part-time)
Swallowtail Farm is a small, sustainable, family-run farm located between East Lansing and Mason. We grow vegetables and flowers and sell directly to local consumers. We are seeking a part-time person (or persons) to help with our farm operations. We are especially interested in candidates available on Monday and/or Thursday mornings / early afternoons.
Tasks include:
Planting, harvesting, weeding, produce washing, bed preparation, and other field tasks. The work is very physical and includes lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and repetitive movement. We are looking for people who value efficiency, know how to work with purpose, and can maintain a positive attitude.
Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age
Experience in gardening, farming, or landscaping preferred
Ability to perform physical work in a variety of weather conditions
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Schedule:
Our regular field work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a part-time position, and we understand it may need to fit around other commitments. We are open to hiring someone who can commit to one or two consistent days per week, and we may hire more than one person to cover the schedule. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can work through the full growing season (through November), with the possibility of longer-term employment. Shorter-term help may also be considered.
